Smart Works – How Your Unworn Clothes can Help Women in Need

We are proud to announce that we are, once again, partnering with and supporting the charity Smart Works.

Smart Works provides high quality interview clothes, styling advice and interview training to women in need. They give women the confidence, the self-belief and the practical tools they require to succeed at interview and start a new chapter in their life and over 94% of clients reported that a visit to Smart Works significantly increased their confidence in succeeding at their job interview.

“In our last financial year, at every location where a Smart Works operates, over one in two of the women we were able to contact went on to succeed at her job interview.”

In January 2019, Megan Markle was announced as their newest Patron and in August 2019 she mentioned Smart Works in her British Vogue article, explaining: “The reason I was drawn to Smart Works is that it reframes the idea of charity as community. It’s a network of women supporting and empowering other women in their professional pursuits.”

In 2019, all members of the BarrettClark team committed to a full day of 1 to 1 coaching sessions which provided clients with essential interview advice to help give them the best possible chance at success during the recruitment process. We were thrilled with the feedback we received:

“Everyone made me feel so comfortable and couldn’t do enough to make you feel at ease and everyone was so helpful and kind.” Samantha

“The interview preparation was excellent. I thought I was ready for anything. Thank you, Smart Works; you did everything right.” Audrey

“I felt really appreciated for the way I was treated.” Dorothy

“I was treated with respect and honour. I was welcomed with love.” Joy

“I was so happy to come here as it was my first time of communicating with other people rather than a friend. I realised I just need to be more confident in myself and don’t be scared.” Tetyana

“Amazing people with positive vibes. I really love the outfit and been given great advices for my interview.” Bilguissa

How You Can Help

All of us are spending more time at home and many people are trying to fill this time productively by doing long neglected tasks around the house, for example, clearing out their wardrobe.

Smart Works centres are currently closed but they anticipate a desperate need for clothing once the Covid-19 restrictions are lifted and their services will be in more urgent need than ever before.

If you are an individual, or have a partner, with high-quality, nearly new, women’s clothing, shoes, handbags or accessories, please do bear Smart Works in mind and put these items to one side ready to donate to a Smart Works centre once it is safe to do so.

Once normal service resumes, it is easy to donate. You can either deliver your items in person to your nearest Smart Works office or send them to one of their London centres by post, courier or via Drop Point.

Please remember that all clothing, accessories, and shoe donations need to be high quality, nearly new and suitable to be worn at interview and that every single item you donate could help another woman succeed at her job interview!
